Deluxe VTVM Probe Kit (without wire)

This kit includes all of the hardware (less wire) to build a set of test probes for most Heathkit (IM-11,13,18,28,5228) Vacuum Tube Volt Meters and many others that use a single 1/4" phone style meter connection.

 (V-4/5/6/7 units need additional banana plugs and slightly different Wire - see other auctions for A Complete Kit for these units or add a pair of Banana Plugs from my other auctions to customize this kit to your application )

Typical application involves using one probe for DC Measurement (with the resistor installed) and the other probe for AC/Ohms Measurement. This dual probe setup, serves as a substitute for the mostly missing or incomplete original test probe which used a switch at the tip of the probe to switch the Resistor in/out of the circuit.

Included in this version of the kit (many of which are hard to source economically):

1 Pair of Solderless Test Lead Probes (Genuine Philmore 912/913J) - 1 Red/1 Black

1 1/4" Mono Phone Plug w/Metal Housing and Clear Heat Shrink Sleeve

1 1Meg Ohm 1 Watt Resistor

1 Alligator Clip & Heat Shrink Tubing

2 Laminated Self Adhesive Probe Labels and Clear Heat Shrink Tubing to cover the probe labels, resulting in a professional and durable setup (see photos)

And also includes an emailed copy of a .PDF document describing the steps for building the test leads according to my method - most of the photographs are included in this auction listing.

The original instructions specify shielded cable for the leads, the original supplied wire was a coaxial microphone style wire, many people use either standard (unshielded) test probe wire for the leads or a shielded coaxial cable.

I Use these probes on my Heathkit IM-13,IM-18 and IM-28 meters with excellent results, and these meters are indespensible for working on Vintage Radio Gear (And I prefer them to my more modern FET meters for this type of work)
