First Time Offered:

Original Owner Stainless Steel Soviet KGB Officers Divers Watch (Real Deal not Reproduction)

         True Story

I bought this watch new from a Military Catalog in 1990 when I was 18 Years Old.  My Dad and I bought the same watch. I waited weeks till it arrived, and when they did......My Dads worked and mine didn't.  I was quite irritated for a long time because $100 bucks was a lot of money for me when I made 7 dollars an hour.

Over that summer, I saved some money and took it to the local town watchmaker who I thought was skilled.
(Found out he was a retired football coach, with no formal watchmaking education).

He attempts to open the back and scratches it with his tool from which point now I'm stewed. Offers no apology, and says he cant get Russian watch parts. The bozo could have told me that before trying to open the watch.

In the drawer it goes for 22 years ......NOS and never to be worn.

Fast forward to 2010 when I finished Master Watchmaker training from 'The School of Horology" in Colombia Pennsylvania.  For 2 years, even through watch school, I thought about finding out what was really wrong with this watch, and why it didn't work. In December of 2015, I took some time off from my watch repair business and opened this watch up for the first time.

What did I find?  A broken tooth from a reverser wheel was jammed in the Escapement.  So I turn to the trusty WUS forum to locate new parts, since you cant call Vostock in the USSR. At that time, I was not buying a watch to fix a NOS watch lol....if you know what I'm sayin :)

Within a few weeks, a kind person from the forums sends me a reverser wheel, and I am grate full. :)

I decide to do a full over haul/service and precision timing of this watch... seriously go over everything myself.

The movement is spotless, and the watch works better and timed better than new.

The entire watch is original including the anti magnetic case back plate, and crystal. Dial, hands and KGB Dial art work is flawless. All is untouched except the case back. The scratch on the ring is very small, and I did some polish work to that area only.

Watch is non quick set with screw down crown.
19 MM Lug Width
Measures Almost 44 MM with Crown
Can Be manual Wound by Unscrewing crown. Its a pain, so I would just set the time and wear it.
Over the course of 2 weeks it keeps spot on time to a cell phone mother clock.

Watch is Priced for the Value of a Full Overhaul/Service and Precision Timing.

Its a Watch, that you don't have to send to a Watchmaker.

Ready to Go :)
