This is a 500 Gigabyte hard drive with ARQ operating systems freshly auto-updated in a running ARQ to Serious Play version 6.4.24681, with the extra-cost option of STREAMING RADIO (60,000 stations!) and NAS (external network drive storage) support enabled in the drive. These options alone cost $400, without a drive... from REQUEST. Even the 500 GB IDE Bare Drives, empty, cost more than $100 today. And you CAN'T use an empty drive, the ARQ system is required and cannot be copied!

For testing, a very large library of over 5,000 albums of every genre, in high quality FLAC and MP3 formats, has been installed, as well as some sample stream sites and stations. The drive was then test played for more than 100 hours. You can delete this library after your own testing. Comes with detailed instructions for selecting internet radio stations as favorites. Note that PANDORA is no longer supported by ARQ for these older models.

This 500 gig IDE drive is in the black plastic case that slides into your ARQ. Unscrew the two exposed front plate thumb screws and remove the cover to see the drive. With the POWER OFF, use the key you find inside to unlock the tray, pull it out, put in the new one, and lock it to connect it... then power it up, and you're done!

Works in AudioRequest models N and F and Zone units with serial numbers from ARQ35xxx through ARQ49xxx. Will NOT work in older units with earlier (lower) serial numbers. (But if you need older style drives, ask, we have a few older ones too!) Will NOT work in new series F3 units that no longer use this IDE drive style.

(SEE THE CHART IN THE PHOTOS - Easy way to tell - these V.6x drives work on any ARQ model that has component video. They will not boot in earlier models, identifiable by lacking component video output.)

SERVICE HINT FOR ARQ OWNERS: The coin-battery on the motherboard will fail after years of use or storage... replace it to cure "can't boot/can't turn off" problems with your ARQ! It's a $1 model 2032 battery in most units and snaps into a holder inside the unit. Worth a try!
