This is an example of the famous Arca Swiss Monoball. They are beautifully engineered and can support heavy cameras easily, as I remember they were really the only quality ball heads that you could get before RRS and Kirk etc. came on the scene and were seriously expensive in their time.

It has a 1/4" thread for the camera and mounts to the tripod with a 3/8" tripod bush. The large black knob locks the head solid with the minimum of effort, the small fine silver knob to its left adjusts the ease of movement of the ball when it is not locked down. The knob on the base locks the rotation of the base and the scale is marked in 22.5 degree intervals. Obviously the head can move easily to the side position for vertical shots and locks firmly. It's a pleasure to use.

The camera platform is 78mm in diameter, the tripod plate is 89mm in diameter and stands 115 mm from the base. The head weighs in 1090 grammes on my pretty accurate kitchen scales. Probably more suited to medium or large format cameras because of the physical size but of course will work with anything with the appropriate threads or adaptors.

Please study the photographs for condition, there are plenty of signs of normal use but nothing that affects the operation. The ball movement is perfectly smooth at all angles and the adjusters are straight and all work as they should.

UK only please.
