About the artist

Born in Glasgow, Jack Kavanagh studied architecture to post-graduate level while teaching himself to paint in his spare time. Having worked in practice for several years after graduating, in 2008 he decided to follow his passion and paint full-time. His paintings are characterised by their depictions of people in everyday situations and are imbued with a fascination of our interaction with the built environment. Kavanagh's work has been described as being like a 'modern-day Lowry' and the artist himself has acknowledged L.S. Lowry as being a huge influence in his art.
