FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Is it better to use braid or mono
Answer: In short its personal preference. Determining what fishing line to use depends on how your are fishing and what fish species you are targeting. As a general rule of thumb we would recommend you use braid with a rod length of fluorocarbon trace if your spin fishing lures and Bait fishing with mono line and a fluorocarbon trace that would vary depending on your target fish and current speed. But there are benefits for doing the opposite although it depends on where your fishing, what fish your targeting and the conditions.
  • What line strength should i use for this rod?
Answer: To protect the rod you should always go with the manufacturers line rating on the rod. Our recommendation is to use 8 strand braid because we found it to be far better for these type of rods and we would recommend a decent brand that you can trust the breaking strain to be somewhere in the middle or lower than the rod manufacturers rating. Your leader can be what ever is required for the fish your targeting just keep your main line within the required rating.
  • What is the cast weight for?
Answer: The cast weight on a rod is the minimum and maximum weight that the fishing rod can cast or should cast. If you exceed the cast weight you would likely break the tip of the rod, and casting lighter weights may be less effective. The rods have a range and the middle is generally optimal, you will get your best casting.
