Kiwi Shoe Polish Shop Display

mid 20th century

A superb vintage rotating shop display for Kiwi shoe polish. It is made of metal with 6 sections for the different sorts of polish. It is brightly decorated and emblazoned with 'KIWI' in contrasting white writing against the red stand. On the top of the stand is an eyecatching pink plastic Kiwi bird, the same as the company logo.  laster figure advertising Wills Pirate Shag Tobacco. It is likely to have been from a shop or a pub and dates from the mid 20th Century. The figure depicts a pirate in a red spotted bandana holding a pipe on a black plinth base with 'Wills Pirate Shag' written on the front.

Measurements :

Height : 15" (38cm)

Diameter : 8" (20cm)

It is in good original condition. It is remarkable it has survived and it even comes with 6 empty pots which nicely set off the display. It has signs of age and use and there are some minor chips and flakes to the paint and wear within the sections where the tins have rubbed against the stand. The Kiwi bird on the top is cracked and slightly split at the back but overall the stand displays very nicely.
