The Pentacle, the most famous symbol of Witchcraft is a bold and fascinating statement about our place in the Universe. When the pentacle is drawn or written, the image created is called a pentagram. The pentagram represents an ancient concept that can be found in philosophical thought in both East and West.

The Pentagram is a symbol of a star encased in a circle. Always with 5 points (one pointing upward), each has its own meaning. The upward point of the star is representative of the spirit.

Wiccans have adopted the pentacle as the symbol of the goddess Morgan. They hand trace the symbol during rituals. The five points represent fire, water, air, earth and spirit – the five things essential for sustenance of life. Many wear it as jewellery and on altars. It is also used to cast and banish healing circles.

If someone is wearing a pentagram necklace, it commonly means that they are followers of a pagan spiritual path and it is commonly worn as a symbol of protection, a way to recognize each other or simply making a public statement
