DescriptionThis variety was mentioned in 1629 and was planted in the gardens at Monticello by Thomas Jefferson. Appears black on overcast days, but will have a hint of red in bright sun. Plant next to a white fence for a spectacular contrast. Self-seeding biennial, 5-6" tall. Single blossoms. Good for landscaping and ornamental gardens. A must for historical gardens!
