No Rust Ever – Stainless Steel
Easy Removal with 3 mm Allen Socket & Ratchet
Allen Socket Cap Head
The factory original equipment float bolt screws were common steel
fasteners with Phillips clone heads that “rolled over” after several removals.
If they get too bad and can’t be removed, your problems will begin. Replace
them now with Stainless Steel Allen head cap screws before it is too late

Our stainless screws are obviously not exact factory replacements.
Actually they are better and can be removed and reinstalled easily. Our threads
are the EXACT size metric threads as the originals and fit perfectly. Only the
heads differ from the originals. Our stainless flat washers have a small
outside diameter and tuck neatly under the screw head. Also included are
traditional split ring lock washers for those who prefer that type.

INSTALLATION: You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, or maybe small vise
grips to remove the original screws. Then you will need a 3 mm Allen wrench or
3 mm Allen socket to install our new socket cap screws.
NOTE: You could pay $30+ dollars for a set of so called “speed
screws” which are really just some strange looking shoulder bolts. These screws
are not any faster to remove than our socket cap screws if you use a ratchet,
extension and Allen socket. Our screws cost much less than speed screws, work
just fine and don’t look silly.

What
is JIS and why do I care?
Bike mechanic’s quote - “It was as if those original screws were made of
kryptonite for the threads and warm butter for the tops.”

Did
you ever wonder why the Phillips head screws holding on your carburetor float
bowl, ream-out or roll over so easily even if you use a quality Phillips
screwdriver? The answer is: they are not really Phillips head screws but
actually JIS screws. Those initials stand for Japanese Industrial Standards (日本工業規格). The screws may appear to be standard
Phillips head but a closer look will reveal the JIS hole is shallower than a
Phillips hole and all of the angles are different than #2 Phillips screwdriver
tips. The long point of the Phillips screwdriver bottoms out in a shallow JIS
screw before the teeth are properly engaged. Then when you twist the tool, you
will roll over the teeth in the screw and/or the driver. To avoid this you can
either purchase a JIS screwdriver or replace those screws with a set of our
Allen socket head cap screws. Our stainless Allen socket cap head screws will
work better and look nicer than JIS screws plus they will never rust.
