1. Danger! Incorrect use of a turbocharger or modifications to the turbocharger can lead to damage. Therefore, please follow the repair instructions for the vehicle or vehicle when installing. engine manufacturer and the following general information.
2. The installation should be verifiably carried out in a specialist workshop.
3. Turbocharger failures at low mileages are almost exclusively caused by errors in the environment. Clarify and eliminate these before installing the new turbocharger to prevent further failure.
-> In any case, check the engine ventilation. Even slightly increased pressure in the crankcase causes the turbocharger to lose oil and can result in the destruction of the turbocharger.
-> Also check the engine's oil pan for contamination/sludge and remove it.
-> Check the function of the control valves for boost pressure and exhaust gas recirculation. The condition of the EGR valve and the KATS or DPF (check manufacturer change intervals). If in doubt, the components must be replaced!
4. Check that the version number on the nameplate of the turbocharger you have matches that of the old turbocharger.
5. Before assembly, check the engine's air and oil filter system and change the filter and oil.
6. Check or Clean the area of the engine's intake pipe and exhaust manifold. Elbows and compensators must be checked in particular for damage and breakouts
-> Foreign bodies and loose parts in the lines (compressor and turbine side) will definitely cause damage during commissioning.
-> Check the entire air duct between the turbocharger and the engine - especially the intercooler - for oil residues and remove them. If necessary, replace the intercooler. Caution: Risk of engine damage due to uncontrolled revving.
7. The oil supply line must be changed! Also adjacent material such as banjo bolts, oil strainers (found in the oil line on some vehicles), etc.
-> Otherwise another failure is inevitable! Just believe this, the damage is clear. The oil return line must be checked and cleaned. If in doubt, this must also be replaced. Never use liquid sealants when connecting the oil lines.
8. Fill the oil inlet bore of the turbocharger with clean engine oil while turning the rotor shaft several times to ensure proper lubrication during commissioning.
9. Install the turbocharger using new flange gaskets. Flanges and threads must be free of wear and damage. As a rule, the connecting screws for fastening the turbine housing are heat-resistant.
-> Only use screws of a suitable specification. Tightening torques must be adhered to in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
10. Start the engine and let it run for approx. 30 sec. run at idle.
-> The engine must first build up oil pressure before you load it.
11. After commissioning, check all fresh air, exhaust gas and oil lines and in particular their connections/connections to ensure that they are tight.
Safety instructions: Do not touch the turbocharger during or immediately after operation;
hot surfaces!
In cases where problems such as lack of power or oil loss on the turbocharger can be identified after observing the above points after installing the turbocharger, the causes are very likely to be in the peripheral area, i.e. not in the turbocharger itself. In this case, please contact us by telephone. From experience, we must urgently advise against installing another turbocharger without first checking a turbocharger that is the subject of a complaint!
