Magnificent representation of a Baoulé mouse or cricket box, with the container engraved with Akan motifs, and adorned with animal fur.
The mouse boxes, used by the soothsayers, are used to reveal certain truths to the whole village. The diviner places grains of rice in the box, and the passage of the mouse placed on these grains will allow him a certain reading. He will thus be able, for example, to identify the culprit of a malicious act.
