"Clipol" is a contraction of Climent and Pol, the names of the owners and operators of the first fleet of public buses in the valleys of
Andorra in 1956.
The Mercedes-L 319 bus illustrates the first modern form of public
transportation in Andorra, and has become an icon of the economic
transformation of the Principality of Andorra.
This was the first model in its class, and the L 319 was produced by Mercedez-Benz from 1955 to 1967. It was first seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1955. The "cab over cabin" design placed the driver at the very front of the bus, with no protruding engine, and increased the passenger capacity.
