John Williams dürfte wohl der bekannteste Filmkomponist der Welt sein, was wenig wundert, wenn man - wie er - die Musik zu "Star Wars", "Der weiße Hai", "Jurassic Park", "Harry Potter" und den "Indiana Jones"-Filmen geschrieben hat. Und das ist nur eine bescheidene Auswahl. Selbstverständlich finden sich diese auch auf den 20 CDs. Nur war und ist John Williams nicht nur ein begnadeter Komponist, sondern auch ein inspirierender Dirigent - so leitete er viele Jahre das Boston Pops Orchestra, mit dem, wie auch mit dem renommierten London Symphony Orchestra, er viele Filmmusikklassiker von "Vom Winde verweht" bis "Der Pate" einspielte. Unterstützt wurde er von Stars wie Itzhak Perlman und Joshua Bell. Und Cellist Yo-Yo Ma widmete eine ganze CD Kompositionen Williams´, die dieser für den Konzertsaal schrieb.
