The OM-8 fiber optic Ethernet media converter attaches to a computer allowing the computer to connect to a fiber optic Local Area Network. The OM-8 media converter attaches to the AUI port on any IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet)compatible card. The signals are transmitted by the media converter over a pair of optical fibers. These fibers attach to any IEEE 10 Base FL port. As well, the OM-8 media converter can be connected back to back for a dedicated link and it can also interface with media converters from other manufacturers. The OM-8 is available with ST optical connectors.
