The coin has the rim, raised on the obverse side of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin depicts the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and a semicircular inscription over it "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION). The inscription indicates the denomination of the coin "25 РУБЛЕЙ" (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the year of issue – "2014 г.", on the right side there is the trade mark of the mint.

The reverse side of the coin bears the images of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch and the emblem of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi against the background of the Russian Federation map featuring the Olympic Torch relay itinerary.
