Offered is a precision laser cut kit to make 21 (twenty-one) N Scale 2” x 12” board lumber stacks measuring 4ft x 4ft in various lengths from 8ft to 14ft in N Scale. These are made from 0.020” thick hardwood, making them as true-to-scale as reasonably possible.
The kit consists of 5 sheets of 0.020” thick hardwood. All lumber stacks are designed to have the appearance of 2” x 12” dimensional lumber and consists of 13 individual pieces (12 plain and 1 etched board design).
2 sheets will make 8 lumber stacks measuring 4ft x 4ft x 8ft
1 sheet will make 5 lumber stacks measuring 4ft x 4ft x 10ft
1 sheet will make 4 lumber stacks measuring 4ft x 4ft x 12ft
1 sheet will make 4 lumber stacks measuring 4ft x 4ft x 14ft
The kit contains extra etched top layers and provides the flexibility to create lumber stacks less than full height. If you so choose, the kit can make up to an additional 9 lumber stacks of varying heights. Instruction sheet provided.
These
are uniquely designed to add the appearance of random length boards. This
method of stacking lumber is commonly used for dry lumber and referred to as
“dead stacked”, since there is not air space between each layer. The unique
design of the layers makes assembly must easier, being a single piece instead
of multiple smaller pieces. The top lumber layer has the realistic appearance
of individual boards.
The laser cut kit comes as multiple wood sheets. To assemble, remove the individual pieces from each sheet with a sharp blade. Simply stack and glue lumber pieces together, using your favorite CA or wood glue. Remember to flip and rotate the lumber layers to achieve a different appearance on the end of each stack. Not only do these lumber stacks look great, but you will find building them simple and rewarding.
