These collectible and highly sought
after metallic cards are exact reproductions of the plaques that are on display
in Cooperstown. Below are additional
details pertaining to the production of these rare and shortly produced cards.
The National Baseball Hall of
Fame marketed individual Metallic Plaque-cards, from 1981 through 1989, by its
gift shop. Each plaque is an exact replica - in gold anodized aluminum - of the
member's official Hall of Fame plaque in miniature (standard card size), 2-1/2"
by 3-1/2". (All metallic Hall of Fame plaque-cards are blank backed.)
Produced in very small quantities, just 1,000 impressions of each were
manufactured - making these 10 times scarcer than the popular Perez-Steele Hall
of Fame art postcards. The limited
number was determined by collector interest as well as the limitations of
production as these proved challenging to produce.
Due to the
volatile nature of production associated with these cards certain blemishes and
imperfection may exist. Please refer to
the pictures for additional details concerning exact condition of the card(s)
you will receive. Cards are encased in
sleeves and top loaders.
