First US edition of a rare children's book
by the Italian artist and designer

Milan & New York: Danese Edizioni per Bambini Milano & The Museum of Modern Art, 1983. 34 pp, some printed with starter drawings and text, others blank, colored and transparent pages for the reader to use. Two screwing rivet-bound halves in original clear plastic sleeve. First American edition. (Follows the Italian original Tantagente, with a Japanese edition published around the same time. Maffei pp. 162-163) Near Fine with unmarked pages, in Very Good clear wraps with some waviness and edge wear, rear pocket bottom seam split. Rare.

With this work the Italian artist and designer explored ideas of play, reader participation, education, and variation and applied them to a children's book patterned after publisher's dummies with their many blank pages and unfinished text. Readers are encouraged to create their own books-- buying extra or replacement sheets from a stationer if need be. As the back cover (one of many possible back covers) states, "Let's make a belissimo book together."
