December 17,1903 marked the creation of the Wright Brother's first offical heavier-than-air craft to be powered, manned, controlled and sutained in flight. Orville and Wilbur embarked on these historic flights from Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. In the first of four flights made on that day, Orville piloted the (Wright) Flyer airborne for 12 seconds. The distance Orville traveled was 120 feet. However, by the fourth flight, Wilbur piloted the Flyer to a distance of 852 feet and stayed in the air for 59 seconds. We hope you enjoy this special Postage Stamp model as it commemorates this great accomplishment and celebrates 100 years of flight.
