Rollei Color Conversion Filter R1.5 - BAY VI WARM SKYLIGHT ROLLEI SLX/6000 EX

Here we offer up a used Rollei Color Conversion Filter R1.5 in Bayonet VI size. This is, essentially, a warming skylight filter similar in effect to a Kodak Wratten #81 filter. It’s intended use is as a standard skylight filter. It ships in the original plastic clamshell case. This filter is in excellent usable condition optically and cosmetically. Skylight filters serve a dual purpose. Most often they are used to protect the front lens element from accidental damage. Technically, they are designed to eliminate excess blue casts in photos caused by ever present ultraviolet and high-blue radiation that permeates the outdoor environment on sunny days. The human eye cannot see this illumination, but the camera faithfully records it on film or in digital image files. Every lens needs a skylight/uv filter; either reason is enough to make it desirable. The slight added warmth of this filter is especially welcome in photos containing human skin or the colors of the natural world.

From “Rollei - The Useful Accessories”:

Color Compensating Filters

Color rendering depends on the color quality of the illumination. Color compensating filters are useful to correct variations in the light color, either to obtain the most natural color balance or to control the rendering at will...

...the reddish R filters subdue excessive blueness...In daylight your are most frequently likely to need the R filters (with their “skylight” filter effect) to avoid blue casts.”
