1. Passed an examination in Hindoostani 23 January 1851. Remanded to his regiment.
2. The authorised number of officers having been withdrawn from his corps for detached employment previously to his appointment, Ensign Murray is stated to have been slightly injured by a wound on service. Military letter from Bengal 28 June No.99 and G.O. 2 July 1851.
3. Leave from 10 September to 5 January 1852 to visit Hoshairpoor on private affairs (Charles married Eliza Coventry on 22 October 1851). Leave from 5 January to 20 November 1852 to Dhurrumsallah and Simla on S.C. (sick certificate).

The East India Company’s Army was wound up in 1858 and men were transferred to either the British Army or the Indian Army. No complete service record for Charles Murray has survived, mainly because service records were only compiled when an officer went on leave to England. Charles after his arrival in 1843 never returned to England so no service record was compiled.
