The description said "The art of Batik is one of the dearest heritages of Chinese history. Early in the Six Dynasties (229-581 A. D. ), It is believed, people dyed cloth into desired patterns with the help of wax deposits. Batik was evolving into an important industrial business during the Tang Dynasty (619-907 A. D. ) Probably the exquisite beauty of the art reinforced the prosperity and colorfulness of the Empire. It is a great pity that we should let the brilliancy of this treasure fade with the passing of time. While art in general is now progressing to a stage free from the limitation of conventional technique and lack of tentiality of revelation and its inherent pure taste, should poregain its fame in the minds of connoisseurs. The Batik which we are presenting to the public, is but an effort to remind people of the glorious past of Batik. It should have a new life, but wheer it will is in the hands of artists and those who love art."
