Size: The sheet measures approximately 182mm x 243mm, blank verso. 

Description: A lithographic, hand-coloured geological map of North Cumberland with an inset map of the Isle of Man, also showing railways (both open and under construction). Reynolds's Geological Atlas was first published from 1860 but it wasn't until the 1864 edition that the maps were geologically coloured. Several further editions were published up to 1889.

Provenance: 'Reynolds's Geological Atlas of Great Britain, comprising a series of maps geologically coloured ...', published by James Reynolds, London, 1864-89. 

Condition: Excellent condition. Centrefold as published. Light age toning. Very slight split at the top end of the centrefold, barely visible when the map is laid down. Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.

NB. The source atlas included a coloured geological key to use in conjunction with the maps. A scan of this key will be included with the map.
