HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT DENSITY

Vasyli orthotics come in three densities.

Red (High Density)Blue (Medium Density) and Green (Low Density).

The Red (High Density) Vasyli models are appropriate for:

    • Those who weigh over 80kg
    • Those who prefer a firmer, more supportive orthotic
    • High volume users (daily wear)
    • Athletes

The Blue (Medium Density) Vasyli models are appropriate for:

    • Those who weigh 50-80kg
    • Those who like a supportive orthotics with excellent control, but perhaps not the hardest possible model available.
    • Medium to high volume users (daily wear)
    • Recreational athletes

The Green (Low Density) Vasyli models are appropriate for:

    • Those who weigh less than 50kg
    • Those who only need mild functional control, while the correct biomechanical position is maintained.
    • People with diabetes or other conditions causing sensitive feet

HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT LENGTH (Full Length vs. ¾ Length)

Whether or not to choose Full Length or ¾ Length options comes down largely to personal choice. Most people default to the Full Length model and remove the innersole/inner liner of their shoe.

¾ orthotics may be appropriate however if you are using the orthotics in:

    • Dress shoes
    • Narrow fitting athletic shoes
    • Shoes with non-removable innersoles/inner liners.
    • Or simply if you prefer ¾ orthotics for comfort or other reasons

6 COMMON FAQ’s ABOUT VASYLI MEDICAL ORTHOTICS

1. How long do they last?

This can vary widely depending on the individual, as well as the type and volume of orthotic usage. Generally however these orthotics will last 12-18 months.

2. These are heat mouldable. Do they have to be moulded?

No. Most of the time these orthotics perform their function perfectly well straight out of the box. Research shows off the shelf orthotics are just as effective as custom moulded orthotics for most lower limb conditions (at a fraction of the cost).

They can be moulded by your physiotherapist or podiatrist if required however. This is performed with a simple heat gun, available from any hardware store. Additions such as rearfoot and midfoot wedges can also be added as required. We stock all varieties of these in our eBay store.

3. Do they have to be worn as a pair?

As a general rule, yes. The orthotics balance the lower limbs. Always fit a pair, even if pain is felt in only one foot or limb, which is usually the case.

4. Do they have to be ‘worn in’?

Yes. In general, we advise that they be worn "to comfort". Should any discomfort occur—in the feet, knees, or back—remove for a few hours or for that day and return to use the next day, repeating the process as needed.

As a general rule, it shouldn't take more than 3 to 4 days to achieve daylong comfort. Ongoing discomfort requires a review of the prescription.

5. Do they fit on top of existing innersoles?

Preferably no, although it can be done.

If you can remove all insoles within the footwear being fitted with the orthotics. If the orthotics are fitted on top of existing insoles, it may "de-tune" the orthotic effectiveness and may contribute to arch intolerance, as will well-worn footwear.

As a general rule, if the footwear has a full length insole fitted, replace it with a full length orthotic.

6. How are the orthotics cleaned?

VASYLI orthotic covers are impregnated with an antibacterial / antimicrobial compound to eliminate odor.

If the products require general cleaning, wipe over with a damp cloth using a mild soap solution, rinse, towel dry, and air naturally.

Do not expose the orthotics to any external heat source.

Do not soak or machine wash.
