Folk Art Handpainted Antique Firkin Mallard Duck Signed Large 9"

The firkin measures 11.25" inches across the top graduating downward to a measurement of 9 " inches at the base. It is also approximately 9" inches tall.

The entire firkin is painted inside and out. The interior is painted a forest green and the exterior is painted yellow with the image of a mallard duck flying out of the water.

The image is signed on the lower right "D. Howe."

The firkin has two metal bands to reinforce the wood slats. The original position of the two metal bands appears to have shifted somewhat yet the firkin is completely solid, no loose joints despite looking weatherbeaten. There are a couple of chips where the wood is missing around the exterior base but does not effect the integrity of the piece. Paint on the top outer edges of firkin are evenly worn down to original wood. The firkin has a metal ring on the upper edge of the interior.

This does appear to be a very old piece but I just don't know enough about these pieces to safely say any more about them.

Great looking rustic charm!
