Pulley Kit Information:
  • Pulley: 
    • Seal: This is the updated double lip seal used 1995 - 2003
    • Spacer: This is what the seal "rides" against and is usually worn
    • Quad Ring: Installs behind Spacer, keeps transmission oil from leaking out shaft splines
    • Lockplate, Lock Screws & Nut: Hardware that holds Pulley to Transmission Shaft
  • Pulley Holder:
    • Holds the pulley, all impact wrench torque goes to the nut, NOT YOUR TRANS & PRIMARY CHAIN ADJUSTER! 
  • Pulley Socket: 
    • Do not struggle with a 4-1/2" long, 2-1/2 pound socket and adapter on the end of your impact gun!
    • This socket is only 1/4 pound, 3/4" long!
    • Anodized red for life!
Pulley Information:
  • Gas Mileage: Can increase 883 on interstate 
  • Increase MPH in Each Gear, ~7-10%, 883's ('91-'03)
  • Reduce Vibration: Cruise at a lower engine RPM
  • Reduce Engine RPM's: Cruise comfortably at 70 mph

    • Increase Gas Mileage on interstate: The best mileage is ~2900-3200 rpm.
    • Which pulley?  Find your year and engine size. Choose a mph you want to cruise at, that is your pulley! 
      883, 1991-2003 & 1200, 1991-Up: 
    • 75- mph Cruise, ~3100 rpm: 32 Tooth Overdrive Transmission Pulley, ~10% change (1200) 
    • 70- mph Cruise, ~3100 rpm: 30 Tooth Overdrive Transmission Pulley, ~3% (1200) to ~11% (883) change
    • 65- mph Cruise, ~3000 rpm: 29 Tooth Overdrive Transmission Pulley ,~7% (883 only) change (same final gearing as a 1200)
    883, 2004-Up: 
    • 75- mph Cruise, ~3400 rpm: 32 Tooth Front & 66 Tooth Rear Pulleys, ~17% change (same final gearing as a 1200 with a 30 tooth)
    • 70- mph Cruise, ~3300 rpm: 32 Tooth Overdrive Transmission Pulley, ~14% change (883, same final gearing as a 1200)
    • 65- mph Cruise, ~3200 rpm: 30 Tooth Overdrive Transmission Pulley, ~7.1% change
    • 60- mph Cruise, ~3100 rpm: 29 Tooth Overdrive Transmission Pulley, ~3.5% change 
    • Increase MPH in Each Gear:
      • You won't have to wind it out just to keep up with traffic anymore!
      • You can actually "use" 1st, 2nd & 3rd!
    • Reduce Highway Engine RPM:
      • 32 Tooth: Modifications are required to pulley cover and matching case standoffs. Visit website for photos and instructions, SportsterStuff.webs.com.
        • 1991-2003, 32TS-1: Same as changing rear pulley to a 55 tooth. Sport models may require a 130 belt or shorter shocks.
        • 2004-Up, 32TS-2: Gives 883's the same final ratio as 1200's, gives 1200's an "overdrive" 5th gear
      • 30 Tooth: No modifications required, except XR's require modifying the inside of the pulley cover.
        • 1991-2003, 30TS-1: This is one more tooth than a stock 1200
        • 2004-Up, 30TS-2: Gives 883's more mph in every gear, still lower than 1200's; two more teeth than stock.
    • Install: Does not require a belt change
