Description: A large, detailed, copper-plate engraved map of the North of England. It covers from southern Scotland to North Wales and Lincolnshire. The hand-coloured map features a decorative title cartouche. De Wit published maps and atlases throughout the final quarter of the 17th century and his maps are recognised for their fine engraving and clear lettering.

Condition: Fair condition. Some creasing to the sheet. Minor splits caused by the original hand colouring at the borders of 'Mervinia' (the Welsh county of Merioneth at the bottom left of the map), to the south coast of Anglesey, and to the east south east of the Isle of Man. It is important to note that there is no loss and these are only visible when held up to the light. Repaired 2 cm closed tear at the base of the centrefold, not affecting the map. 1cm marginal closed tear to the bottom edge of the sheet, again not affecting the printed area. Manuscript ink plate number in the bottom right margin. Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition. The price is adjusted to account for the condition.
