This is a Very Good Condition Lot of 2 Small Hand Carved 1970s era Ovoid Shaped Ochre Floral Flower Inlaid Soapstone Ring Trinket Boxes.  Your eyes are not deceiving you, the tops and the bottoms are different colored stones and they are matched to each box and are NOT interchangeable.   The inlays are of an opalescent material that may or may not be embargoed by some countries.  I have two sets of these at this time, and the first 4 pics are one set and the second 4 pics are the second set   Let me know if you have a preference for either set.  If you don't tell me which one you want, I will send the first set.   If they are popular, I can probably get a couple more.

Like anything handmade, it is not perfectly smooth, straight, or completely finished.  The hand carved lid does not perfectly fit the hand carved box, but it's pretty close and does have a nice, substantial feel to it.  To me, it feels a lot like marble.  While it may have been polished 40+ years ago, it might benefit from being cleaned and polished again.

I am selling a number of these Indian Soapstone trinket, ring, and knick-knack boxes in separate listings if you are interested in having these for very nice last minute unique gifts, or if you are a discerning collector.

Soapstone is a soft stone, and can be scratched with rings, rough handling, fingernails, and many other things.  You should learn how to polish them to keep them looking their best.

Here is how wikipedia says to clean and polish soapstone items:

  1. 1.Sand the stone to remove cutting and filing marks. (Use the finest sandpaper available and be prepared to have to buff it with a buffing cloth or buffing wheel.)...
  2. 2.Rinse the stone in a gentle stream of water to remove all traces of dust from sanding. ...
  3. 3.Apply tung oil or furniture polish to a polishing cloth. ...
  4. 4.Rub the stone with oil. ...
  5. 5.Buff the polished soapstone.

FREE Domestic Expedited, Insured, Expertly Packed and Protected Shipping.  Shipping weight about 16 ounces.

I will combine shipping on all my items.  If you have a question about shipping costs for a specific mix of items, please don't hesitate to email me for a shipping cost quote.  If you choose to then buy the items, please wait until I send you an invoice before paying for the items for your combined shipping quote or you might send excess shipping payments that ebay will charge a non-refundable fee for.

Returns accepted.  Uninsured shipments are at your risk.  I always have confirmation that I have shipped.

International shipping ok. The ebay and USPS delivery estimates are wildly optimistic. My experience is that international shipping will take 10 - 21+ days until delivery. Only Express Mail has a chance to meet the delivery estimate.   INTERNATIONAL SHIPPERS NOTE: I cannot determine or pay any duties or know about quarantine your country may impose on any of my items.  Please check with your local post office BEFORE buying or bidding so you don't get any unwelcome surprises.  International First Class is the least expensive, but also is the least dependable.  Please select your shipping option when buying.

If you look at my ratings, you will note that only 2% of the sellers on ebay have my dual distinction.  I have earned these ratings by being an honest, accurate and fast shipping seller.  If you have ANY question or concern, please contact me through ebay messages and NOT through the paypal email address, as I only check that address monthly.  I will answer most ebay messages in less than 1 day, and all in 2 days.

Local pickup ok on all my items..

Alternate methods of payment ok if no paypal account as shown below.

Please peruse my ebay store 'The Anachron' by clicking on the red icon at the top of this listing.

INSURANCE NOTE:  I try to insure every shipment of $20.00 or more by ebay's insurance.  Unfortunately, 2012 postal regulations forbid insurance on certain types of postal shipping services  to various countries.  Also, unfortunately, I now usually only find out whether an item can be insured when I go to make out the shipping label.  If insurance is incredibly important to you, email me before bidding and I will try to see if the least expensive shipping service can be insured.  An example of the international differences is that at this time, Canada apparently forbids insurance on all postal service levels except Express Mail Parcels.  In contrast, I have been able to insure First Class Parcels to both Argentina and Switzerland.  I do not personally insure anything.  UNINSURED SHIPMENTS ARE SENT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
