This medal shows St Jude holding a medallion with a profile of Jesus.  He also has a small flame above his head, which represents the Holy Spirit descending upon St Jude and the other Apostles at Pentecost.  The reverse shows the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Tradition holds that St Jude was the son of Cleophas, and early Christian martyr, and Mary, Cleophas' wife, who stood at the foot of the cross with the Virgin Mary. He was one of the first apostles and a relative of Jesus. The Epistle of Jude in the New Testament was written by him. His association with lost causes stems from confusion of his name, Jude, with that of Judas the betrayer of Jesus. The mix-up meant that devotion to St Jude was considered a lost cause, but he has become on of the most popular Catholic saints.

The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
