No. 322 Squadron is the oldest operational squadron of the Dutch Air Force. It was founded in 1943 as part of the (British) Royal Air Force with Dutch personnel. To celebrate its 75th anniversary, a special livery was applied to J-879, commemorating its WW2 origins. Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight". Lockheed F-16A Fighting FalconDesigned by General Dynamics as a lightweight, daytime USAF air-combat fighter, the F-16 was first flown on January 20th, 1974. This single-engine, supersonic aircraft has, over the years, evolved into a multirole aircraft. It has a frameless bubble canopy-giving its pilot superior visibility-and it uses advanced aerodynamics. The F-16 was one of the first designs to use a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire system, which helps it pull 9-g maneuvers and achieve speeds of more than Mach 2. Called "Viper" by its pilots, the F-16 is considered one of the most successful aircraft designs of the Cold War, with 4,400+ aircraft built since 1976.© Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc. Herpa's 1:72 scale F-16 is constructed of solid diecast metal. Very few plastic parts are used, yet the finer points - detailed landing gear, engine exhaust, cockpit interior and panel lines and rivet details - are reminiscent of those usually only found on plastic models. Even subtle details have been included, such as radar warning antenna "beer cans," static discharge wicks and angle of attack vanes. This model, available as either a single-seat C variant or a two-seat D variant, is highly configurable, with movable stabilators, positionable rudder, a hinged canopy with extending and retracting actuator and a variety of different weapons configurations. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
