Title Page: Photograph by Stephen Danellan. The photographs below were captured by a New York City Fire Department photographer. The top one was made during the period after the planes hit but before the towers collapsed. It was taken from a pedestrian bridge that connected the World Trade Center to the World Financial Center across the street: the brldge remnants can be seen In the second photo. All fire, police. and emergency vehicles were destroyed by the falling North lbwer. Virtually all who remained in the area perished.
