Jimi Hendrix's 1967 Gibson SG Custom

Known widely for playing Fender Stratocasters, Jimi Hendrix did play a few Gibson’s including this 1967 Gibson SG Custom featuring three humbuckers, a large ‘bat-wing’ pick guard and vibrola.
As a left-handed player, Jimi couldn’t always find a left-handed guitar easily so he learned early on to just turn them over and re-string them, keeping the bass string at the top.
Appearing as a guest on American TV’s The Dick Cavett Show on September 9th 1969, Jimi used this SG Custom to perform Izabella and notably the premiere of Machine Gun.
Jimi also played this SG Custom in Stockholm, Sweden in the same year.

The illustration of this famous guitar is original and has been produced by George Morgan following extensive research.
