Keith Richards’ Gibson Les Paul with Bigsby Tremolo
Keith’s first Gibson Les Paul Standard was a ’59 model that had already been retro-fitted with an aftermarket Bigsby B-7 Vibrato Tailpiece when he purchased it
second hand in 1964.
It was famously used on The Rolling Stones’ second U.S. tour in 1964 including their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show and featured on many Rolling Stones hits including Time is on My Side, Little Red Rooster, The Last Time, (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, Get Off My Cloud and Let’s Spend the Night Together.
Keith sold the guitar to Mick Taylor in 1967 when Taylor joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers but it wasn’t long before the guitar returned to The Rolling Stones as Mick Taylor used it during his first live performance with The ‘Stones when they played a free outdoor festival in London’s Hyde Park in 1969.
