This very unusual Chanill pewter ashtray was made in the 1970s. The ashtray, stamped ETAIN CHANILL on the back, along with a coat of arms, is fixed to a panel of pewter chain mail.

The weighty chain mail is intended to flap over the arms of a lounge chair, keeping the ashtray in place.

The chain mail panel can be removed by unscrewing it from the base of the ashtray.

The ashtray is in very good condition considering its age, showing the usual signs of wear as per second photo. It could be used now or serve as a collector's item.

The ashtray is 9.4cm (3.75") in diameter and the chain mail panel is 47.5cm (18.75") at full length. In total it weighs 350g.
