Impatiens glandulifera is a large annual plant in the Balsaminaceae family. Some common names include Policeman's helmet, bobby tops, copper tops, and gnome's hatstand. A native to the Himalayan mountains. It grows between 3 and 6 feet tall in most soils with drainage. The flowers can be a light pink to dark Burgandy with several blooms at one time. It will die to the ground and re-seed for next year. The seed pods, when touched, explode in your hands. Zones 9-11
Germination
Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-70F. Germination is in 21-30 days.
