This listing is for an easy to fit 'open-backed' kit consisting of vertical and horizontal sections to create a bedroom headboard 3/4 style batten and rail panelling as shown in examples in the pictures.
The design of the panelling is a Batten & Rail Nordic style with vertical battens and horizontal top rail and footer sections. The gaps between the vertical battens is custom but the pictures show between 25cm and 45cm, we resize the gaps for each wall in bespoke designs. Adjustments are possible for any other sizes, contact us if you need bespoke sized panels.
There are options to get instant price quotes for common widths at 2.1m, 2.5m, 3.5m and up to 5m but we can of course do wider kits than this.
The height of the panelling is 140cm (which is about the right height to be a headboard) but there is some variation in this possible. Please note that panelling higher than 140cm will likely incur extra fees as this utilises more material and our shipping costs are higher.

OPEN BACKED: This super value wall panelling is supplied in unfinished water resistant MDF sections ready to fix straight to the wall. You can then paint to finish. We also offer pre-primed panels if required.
This panelling is 'open backed' and is designed to be fixed to a smooth plastered wall using No More Nails, PVA or similar adhesive. The wall is still visible through the panelling. The wall and panel sections are then painted all the same colour to give the impression the panel recesses are 'carved out' of the wall.
Joins between panel sections are very small and can be easily filled and sanded for a seamless look, as shown in the pictures.
If your wall is not smooth, has woodchip wallpaper or bare brick or block work then we recommend 'closed back' panelling with back-boards fitted and the paneling kit supplied as ready-made modular sections, please check out our other listings/items for this.
The open backed kits shown in the pictures vary in height the widths vary also, from 110cm to 140cm tall with 25cm to 40cm wide gaps between panel columns and overall widths from 1.5m to 3.3m.
The pricing in this listing assume panelling which is 1.4m high, there are options for different overall widths from 2m. The standard design has 7cm wide battens and around 40cm gaps between but we can alter this for your wall so you get a totally symetrical design.

The kit is supplied with in sections which you fix to the wall with grab adhesive, following our comprehensive instructions. The design can be adjusted to increase the width and height of the kit easily to fit your wall and requirements. Measure your wall and follow the notes below to estimate your kit size.
If you are not confident specifying the sizes for the kit but you have wall measurements then please contact us and we can advise or maybe create a custom kit.
Adjustment of overall height of the kit to fit your wall.
You can leave your current skirting board in place and to stick the kit panels to the wall above the skirting, if you want this then measure your wall for kit sizing from the top of the skirting to the height you want the kit to finish.
If you plan to remove and replace skirting the standard 1sized kit comes with a 18cm high footer panel so you can fix your skirting to the front of the panel footer and flush to your flooring, in this setup some of the footer panel is still visible below the squares and above the skirting as in the photos.
We think this looks better than just putting the fixing above the skirting but it does require you remove the skirting and then trim and replace it afterwards, it is your choice.
Specify the height of the footer panel using the options available, remember this will increase the total height of the kit from the floor so please ensure your floor to ceiling/termination point measurement is accurate and that your kit will fit.
If you are unsure what footer panel or side panel size you need then please contact us for advice, we may be able to create a custom height footer for the kit to fit your wall perfectly. You can send us your wall sizing and we can advise.
We have other square sizes in our panel kit range that may be suitable.
These panels provide what we call 'three quarter' open backed panelling which is ideal for panelling in bedrooms, hallways, landings and kitchens- amongst other types of rooms.
Three quarter wall panels be capped with a dado rail, plain strip, shelving or left as it is. We can supply plain square MDF rails to cap off the top and give a small lip and shadow to the top free of charge with our kits, ask about this if you require one. Decorative wooden trim/rails can be purchased at low cost from any DIY retailer and are easy to trim to fit.

Important note on measuring your wall for kit sizing.
When measuring walls measure at three points for width and your chosen height and allow a 2-5mm margin for error gap for width as walls, floors and ceilings are never exactly level and square. Any resulting gap is easily covered with decorator's caulk or filler prior to painting. We may ask you about this if you request a custom kit.
Sockets & light switches
To save you time and effort when fitting we can make adjustments to the design so that panel gaps fall where your sockets and light switches are located. We can also trim the panels so they go around sockets or switches, or have cut outs to accomodate them. When sending us measurements, note the location of the sockets and light switches, measure from the side (noting right or left) the height and how big the sockets and switches are.
Panel Material.
Our MDF panelling is handmade from high quality Medite moisture resistant MDF. The front surface of the panels and square recesses are 9mm thickness/depth with the original wall showing through the recesses.
Other ordering info.
We handmake our kits to order and sometimes there can be a lead time to this. Please allow up to 14 days for us to process the order in our artisan workshop prior to despatch. We will let you know when it is ready.
Fitting Instructions.
All our kits are sent with comprehensive fitting instructions but you will need your own adhesive (PVA, No More Nails or similar), a 1m spirit level, a saw for any trimming (if required), a pencil for marking out lines, some fine surface filler and sandpaper. The fitting instructions will also contain a link to our blog where you can find further advice on installation and painting.
Our kits can be supplied pre-primed with undercoat/primer ready for final painting for the optimum finish with least effort on your part. There are options to buy primed versions.
Cancellations and Returns.
All of our panelling kits are made to order so we cannot accept cancellations or returns if your measurements were wrong or you do not like the kit. If you encounter issues with fitting, for instance your walls and ceilings are not as level as you thought or your walls are not as smooth then contact us for free advice. We find that most issues can be overcome easily.
We can accept returns if the kit is damaged or has a manufacturing defect although we do our best to check everything prior to despatch.
Despite our robust packaging damage could occur in transit and if this happens please notify the courier on delivery or contact us straight away and before leaving any feedback.
NOTE: All sizing is subject to a minor variance up to +/- 2mm.
