Dave Mustaine Miniature Guitar Replica By Axman

Born 13th Sept 1961 La Mesa California, Dave Mustaine is best known as co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter of the Californian Thrash Metal band Megadeth. He has in recent years broadened his CV to include being an actor and author.

Along with Metaliica, Anthrax, Exodus and quite a few others, Megadeth were one of the earliest pioneers of 'Bay Area Thrash' and they would go on to be one of the most enduring and successful bands of the genre, selling millions of albums the world over.

Dave Mustaine, in common with a lot of his Thrash contemporaries was always very fond of a 'V' shaped or dangerously pointy looking guitar which seemed to go hand in hand with the brutality of the music so well.

The Mustaine guitar is part of a signature range and it is certainly in keeping with the guitar player's love of all things pointy. The amazing blood red finish, topped with 24 carat gold leaf is said to have been inspired by the ancient icons Mustaine had recently seen on a trip to Jerusalem.

Exactly what prescription medication Mustaine was on during his trip is unclear, but one look at the finish of the Holy Grail guitar should perhaps offer some clues. The initial first run of 33 guitars even came with an engraved commemorative chalice to celebrate the 33 year anniversary of his band Megadeth.

The Holy Grail is a piece of work indeed, featuring a mahogany body, neck and top with an ebony gold inlaid fingerboard and 24 frets. The back of the body and neck are finished in true 'Metal' style with an opaque black gloss that contrast the blood red and gold front perfectly.

The hardware on the Mustaine guitar includes a Tone Pros Tune-O-Matic bridge, Grover tuners and a pair of active Seymour Duncan Live Wire Gold humbucker pickups which guarantee a truly earth shattering Metal tone. The electrics consist of a separate volume control for each pickup, a master tone control and a 3-way pickup selector switch. All the above are finished in the 'blackest' black.
