4 photos and one postcard from the John Sanborn Putney 2nd estate. I've just listed several photos of John in WW1, working as a mechanic at times, and after the war the family had a place in Contoocook, NH. This may have been his garage, and it may not have been. He died in 1934.
- One postcard of the Contoocook Garage, that looks to be from the 1920's by the autos.
- one photo, 4.5x2.75", of the Contoocook Garage, captioned on the back, "Garage during flood 1936". There is a Shell sign above the drive-thru and the pumps are Shell.
- another photo of the flood, same size, "At the foot of our hill, Contoocook NH-during flood-spring 1936.
- 2 5x3.5" photos, same image, of the Garage, undated, but with 1920's auto. This side of the drive-thru has "Socony" sign, Willys Knight sign and Fisk Tires sign. Both have corner damage.
Still not sure how the family was connected to the garage, but unusual to have this many photos of the garage with no family connection.
See scans or photos for condition. Happy to answer questions. If this is an auction listing there is no "Buy it Now" price--please don't ask. We don't end auctions early. If this is a "Buy It Now" listing we do not participate in the "Make An Offer" program--no haggling. Prices are our best price. Just takes too much time with so many listings. We don't answer offers. Glad to combine shipping on multiple items: Please email me BEFORE you pay for multiple items so I can reduce your shipping cost. Good feedback automatically given reciprocally. And finally, we don't do "Partial Refunds". You must return the item so we can offer it to the underbidder. Thanks for looking.
