and, while some are damped internally with foam, this is not an ideal solution
and the tube will almost certainly benefit from additional damping. Sorbothane
is the ideal material for this and so we have designed the Tonearm Damping
Rings to fit snugly around the tube while also being able to stretch around the
headshell and fingerlift where necessary. We have also made them light enough
to not adversely affect the effective mass of the arm. The Tonearm Damping Rings are available in two sizes: The smaller rings should be used on armtubes of 8-12mm diameter and the larger rings on 12–20mm. Small rings weigh approx. 0.60gms each and the large rings 0.73gms each. One pair are sufficient for an armtube, however, four can be used for additional damping provided the extra mass is not a problem. Fitting instructions - Detachable headshell tonearms: Remove headshell and slide rings on to the armtube. Fixed headshell tonearms: Fit stylus guard or remove stylus / cartridge. Carefully stretch ring just enough so it will fit over the fingerlift and the headshell / cartridge. If the rings are stretched excessively they will break - so take extra care during fitment. Positioning - Slide the rings along the armtube until they are positioned so they divide the armtube into thirds. Experimentation with the positioning is encouraged. Reset tracking weight. Guarantee – Care must be taken when fitting the rings but if you overstretch one and it breaks then on photographic proof we will provide a replacement ring at half price + postage.
