Paul McCartney played two 500/1 Violin basses during most of his time in The Beatles. This 1963 model is the one that became known as ‘The Beatle Bass’. First seen during Ready Steady Go! in October 1963, this model soon became his main instrument and the one with which most people would recognise him. It was used for almost all The Beatles’ remaining live performances, recordings and television appearances until their break up.
The illustration of this famous bass is original and has been produced by George Morgan following extensive research. This is not a photograph.
