Antique American Queen Anne Armchair Circa 1780-1790

Antique American Queen Anne Armchair Circa 1780-1790

A fine American Queen Anne style armchair,  New York,  circa 1780-1790.  With a mixed woods structure of maple, pine, ash and/or oak.   The form is transitional, from William and Mary to Queen Anne. While most of the chair retains William and Mary features, the Queen Anne style is seen in the vasiform back splat and crest  rail.  The chair is 43 1/2" high at the taller part of the back, by 23" wide at the front by 17 1/2" deep. Floor to seat height is 17 1/2" -18" . With original finish and replaced leather seat.  The chair is structurally sound with no major repairs or restorations.  There is some wood missing on the back of the left front leg.  There is also some wood missing on the underside of one of the seat rails.  Normal wear and tear for a piece of this age. Guaranteed to be as described.
