Chlorogalum pomeridianum is a perennial in the Asparagaceae family. A native to California and Oregon. Some common names include wavy-leafed soap plant, California soaproot, or Amole Lily. It grows along the coastline of western Sierra Nevada foothills. It also grows in the Klamath Mountains, open woodlands, rock bluffs, chaparral, and grasslands. The fibers that surround the bulb were used to make small brushes. The juice extracted from the bulb was used as a soap, giving it its name, the soap plant. It grows to 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. It prefers to grow under full sun with average water needs. Zones 6-10

Germination

Sow seeds on top of the soil and do not cover with soil. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover with plastic and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-30 days.
