La Anita is a household brand when it comes to seasoning and sauces. And the Annato Achiote Paste is definitely a winner within its category!

Simple to add that delicious flavor to any meats, it is easy-to-use and a great pantry item to have.

It comes in separate bars that are individually wrapped, and just as with most spices and bouillons, it can be stored in the fridge after opening.

Each bar is 100g (3.52oz) and you can dilute it in broth, water, or as the recommended is vinegar.

A must have ingredient for cochinita pibil and many tradional dishes, you can use it for any meat (pork, chicken, fish, beef) for stews, roasts, or barbeque.

____

Suggested Use:

For 2 lbs of meat:

- Dilute 1 oz of the paste with 6.7 ounces of white vinegar

- Marinade fish 1-2 hours

- Marinade chicken or meat for 3-4 hours

___

Dee's Tip:

I tried with unfiltered apple cider vinegar and it worked really well. Don't think that you are stuck with only using white vinegar. The paste is flavorful and needs to be diluted to incorporate the spices and to be better absorbed by the meats. But play around a little!

It makes for great bbq marinades but also can be used in boils and stews. Just don't go crazy on it!As tasty as it is, remember that it is a condiment. So it can be salty in large portions.

Buen Provecho!
