 Famous Gibson Les Pauls

Slash used this 1959 Gibson Les Paul in the Guns Nā€™ Roses video for November Rain.  It had been stolen from Joe Perry and sold a few times before Slash had a call asking if he was interested in buying it. Ascertaining it was the real thing he bought it and returned it to Joe on his 50th birthday.
Duane Allman played this 1957 Les Paul Goldtop in the studio and live performances for the first 18 months in The Allman Brothers Band including recording the first two albums featuring the original versions of Whipping Post, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Midnight Rider and Revival.
Purchased new in 1962, Jimmy Page used this 1960 Gibson Les Paul Custom for most of his session work from 1963 to 1966. Jimmy had the Bigsby tremolo fitted and the original single pickup selector switch replaced by three toggle switches, allowing selection of any combination of pickups.
Purchased in 1967 from Dan Erlewine for his ā€˜54 Les Paul and $100, this was the 1959 Les Paul Standard that Mike Bloomfield used as a member of Electric Flag, in live performances and whilst recording the Super Session album in 1968.
Pete Townshend used numbers to identify different tuning and in 1973 switched permanently to the Les Paul Deluxe. This early prototype #8 shows the DiMarzio humbucker in the middle position and two additional switches providing a two-way tap for the Dual Sound and three-way selection.
