Team GB's Jason Kenny - Individual Sprint - 2016 Rio Olympics.
Jason Kenny took his fifth Olympic gold medal in the Men’s Individual Sprint at Rio in 2016. Jason successfully defended his title by beating team-mate Callum Skinner to win the first two races of the best-of-three final.
Qualifying with an Olympic record of 9.551 seconds, Kenny took the first race from behind, using experience and the height of the track for a sling-shot off the banking where he took the lead down the back straight, then carried his speed out of the final banking to stop the clock for the final 200m at 10.164 seconds with an average speed of 70.838 km/h,  0.113 seconds quicker than his room-mate.
In their second race Kenny showed superior speed to win from the front, taking the initiative into the final lap and producing a quicker final 200m in 9.916 seconds with an average speed of 72.609 km/h but with a reduced winning margin of just 0.086 seconds.

The illustration of this famous sporting occasion is original and has been produced by George Morgan following extensive research.
