C.1870 EAGLE FIGURE PEDIMENT FOUND IN CHARLESTOWN MA, JOHN HALEY BELLAMY ATTRIBUTED CARVING

Important find, of this early carved pine American eagle pediment. Unsigned as all Bellamy carvings, this piece must sold as attributed.

It stands as shown in pictures, approximately 12" tall and in wingspan, and its depth is approximately 5". Being that its base is slightly curved, it may have possibly been mounted on a curved arch, perhaps over a doorway, or some other curved structure.

This rare example was designed with applied carved wings, which are attached but loose. If so desired, they could be made secure, but in my opinion that should be done by a professional.

This beautiful piece shows remnants of gilt and paint, indicating that it must have been displayed out of doors for decades, as the piece has great patina and is beautifully weathered. Carving is sold as shown and as is.

Please contact me if there are any questions that I might answer regarding this piece.

As always, my policy remains that I only sell and ship to the United States of America. Thank you.
