THE STAMPS AND POSTMARKS:
Sweden's post office issued a green recess-printed King Gustav V 5 öre stamp on 8 May 1911 on watermarked paper (1.3 million), and supplies were quickly depleted, this being the postal rate for letters within Sweden. Less than a month later - on 1 June - a typographic reprint of 70 million stamps was issued on unwatermarked paper.
The horizontal pair of stamps on this Anchor Line artist's postcard of the T.S.S. CALEDONIA, was mailed from an unidentified ship, and processed by one of the 155 Steamboat Post Offices that were in operation by the Sweden Post Office in 1913, all designated "PKXP". They were intended for the transmission of LETTERS, POST CARDS, and BOOK-POST packets.
These post offices were located aboard various ships in Swedish ports and waters. Specialist collectors have designated the postmarks as "TPOs" - Travelling Post Offices.

• 1904 (22 October) - built for Henderson Brothers, Glasgow, Scotland
• 1905 (25 March) maiden voyage Glasgow - Cobh (Queenstown) Ireland - New York
• 1914 (August) troopship conversion for British Admiralty
• 1915 - participated in Dardanelles Campaign
• 1915 - North Atlantic route transporting Canadian troops to Plymouth, England
• 1916 - Mediterranean to Bombay service transporting Indian troops to Egypt, Cyprus and Malta
• 1916 (4 December) - torpedoed and sunk by U-boat 120 miles from Malta
