This is the first edition with the Scribner colophon and the letter A on verso.

Book is very good.  It is tightly bound, no marks, no names, no writing.

Pages are clean, not folded, no tears.

Dust jacket has a small black mark blotting out a former price on inner flap.  It is also price cut.

It is in good condition but has a 1" tear from top of spine and very small amounts of wear along edge and corners.

Commander Gatti led expeditions into Africa and observed the Pygmy people.  This story is based on a real boy.

Book is written for young adults and adults.

It is illustrated throughout with full page and half page illustrations by well known artist Kurt Wiese.

An interesting look into an obscure world that exists even today.

Book has 226 pages.
