This book is a must have for any relic hunter or history buff. The book will take you through the life and ancestry of Dick Hammond as you follow him back as far as the mid 1950's when he began searching the Virginia woods for relics. Dick also began purchasing civil war artifacts at about the same time. He was able to put together one of the largest Civil War collections known.

The book was written and photographed by two well known authors, Mike O'Donnel who recently passed,and the late Howard Crouch, both considered experts and authoritarians on the subject of Civil War artifacts. Unfortunately this book will be each of their last completed significant body of work. Many of Dick's artifacts he dug or purchased, have been featured in several other civil war artifact reference books dating as far back as the 1970's.
